A Year to Remember For Lance Friend

We’ve almost come full circle back to The Gympie Music Muster where Lance was invited by the CEO, James Dein to play as ‘The People’s Choice’ in 2012. A lot has happened for Lance since that career highlight and things look set to keep climbing with Lance playing Main Stage and The Crowbar at this year’s Gympie Music Muster.

In months after the Gympie Muster Lance released ‘Once a Month Weekend’ off his album titled ‘The Album’. This song climbed its way to No8 on the Australian Hot Country Charts and remained in the top10 for a total of 7 weeks. A film clip was made in Olary, SA and has been available for viewing on www.youtube.com/lancefriendvideo. A copy was sent to CMC but unfortunately and contrary to popular opinion they didn’t approve it for play. Check it out and you be the judge feel free to email us your opinion at management@lancefriend.com all feedback is very welcome.

2013 has seen Lance travelling around this great country taking his music to the people wherever the opportunity was given. Heading south after another successful Tamworth was just the beginning of his tour kicking things off in NSW at Dubbo, The Entrance, Cessnock and Aberdeen. Back in Qld, Lance was kept busy with many radio interviews across Australia promoting his latest successes.

Heading north to headline the famous Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Festival was definitely another highlight for Lance and kick up dirt & dust is exactly what the 4000 strong crowd did. The following weekend saw this ‘Fast Talking Cowboy’ heading back to Gympie to where the Music Muster first began all those years ago to perform at the Thornside Widgee Country Music Festival.

With another great single just released ‘Sit With Me Tonight (1951)’ there was little time to recoup and it was back on the road to entertain Gayndah, Rolleston, Anakie, Barcaldine and Winton on his way to Headline yet another famous and long-time event, The 103rd Brunette Races on the Barkley Tablelands in the Northern Territory. It was after this that Lance set off on a solo tourist adventure to play at Cape Crawford, King Ash Bay, Camooweal, Mt Isa, Karumba and Charters Towers making his way back to Qld to prepare for another headline act at Gemfest and his showcase for the Gympie Muster.

Still there is no time to rest with another single yet to be released in November and the Airlie Beach Music Festival to perform as well as planning and practising for what is sure to be an awesome Tamworth Festival in 2014. Bookings have been coming in from all over Australia with plans to head across to WA and down to SA next year who knows where this road will take him. Don’t forget to check out www.lancefriend.com where you will find current information, galleries, album tracks and soon to be released merchandise. You can also join Lance on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the icons on his website. Lance would like to thank you all for your support over the years and hopes to see you at one of his gigs soon.

Lance and his band have hit the road on their journey to Brunette Downs Races and have been playing up a storm along the way. So far they have played at Gayndah at The Golden Orange Hotel, entertaining hundreds for the famous Orange Festival before heading to Cania Gorge Big4 to play an intimate show for fellow travellers. After a great performance at Rolleston Hotel, the next stop was Anakie for a day or two of R & R.

Word of Lance's arrival had spread and an eager crowd awaited yet another great performance at Anakie before they set off to play in Balcaldine. You can follow this tour and get all the finer details and images on Lance's Facebook page by clicking the Facebook link above.

In other news after 22 weeks in the charts Once a Month Weekend is now sitting at No14 having dropped from it's 3 week stint at No8. Great stats for a great song.

Lance has also recently been heard on radio promoting his latest single Sit With Me Tonight (1951). Live interviews in Canada and on 4BC along with Kangaroo Island have kept Lance busy and it doesn't end there with many others booked in for future dates.

Winter has hit us and the crew are pleased to be heading to warmer temperatures where Lance will not only headline the Brunette Downs Races but will also launch his own range of merchandise that you will also be able to purchase here on our Merchandise page.

Some of you might have noticed that 'The Album' is not currently available on iTunes and we are working on getting that fixed soon however it can still be purchased here on our website.

Have you checked out www.youtube.com/lancefriendvideo. Footage of Julia Creek Dirt & Dust has been posted for your enjoyment so rug up and keep hot on the Lance Friend trail.
